M2M wireless out-of-band critical communications with satellite

Wednesday 2 Dec: 11.45am - 12.15pm
Daryl Chambers / Director, M2M Creativity

Satellite is becoming more affordable and progressively easier to integrate into existing machine-to-machine (M2M) communication systems to provide
out-of-bandwidth management. Where cellular (LTE/3G) or short-range (WLAN/Wi-Fi) communications has failed or is out of range, failover to satellite can ensure communication of critical data.    Satellite has brought communication access to places that previously seemed impossible. Offering superior geographic coverage and simpler roaming, satellite is now proving to be ideal for low-cost global M2M communications.

Adding satellite capabilities to existing M2M wireless systems takes advantage of satellite’s coverage almost anywhere in world with quick implementation of highly scalable, global solutions that are not dependent on local connectivity.

There are several satellite operators offering two-way satellite messaging systems with low latency message delivery that are suitable for mission-critical applications sending information to people operating in high-risk areas, reporting alarm conditions and retrieving logs from remote equipment during an emergency.
