Delivery options for a public safety-grade mobile broadband capability: the Productivity Commission draft report findings

Wednesday 2 Dec: 3.30pm - 4.00pm
Jonathan Coppel / Commissioner, Productivity Commission

In March 2015 the Australian Government requested the Productivity Commission undertake a study into the best way to secure a mobile broadband capability to meet the long-term needs of Australia’s public safety agencies (PSAs). The presentation outlines how the commission reached its draft report landing that commercial carriers are the most cost-effective option for deploying a public safety-grade mobile broadband capability to PSAs. The presentation also presents findings on factors other than costs, such as risks and the need for protocols for sharing information and network capacity among agencies.
