Wednesday 12 April 2.00pm-2.30pm
Dr Suresh Hungenahally / CIO & Cyber Security Lead, CommTel Network Solutions NZ Ltd

Attacking and defending information in the cyber space is the key concept of cyber warfare. The dimensions of attack are now multifold, spreading from personal information to controlling large societal infrastructure. The roles and responsibilities lie across many boundaries with many undefined governance and delegation to execute actions in critical time frames. All systems business and execution systems are at risk in the future cyber warfare space. OT, SCADA systems, business critical IT systems, reduced air gap, controlling – electricity, water, telecommunications, transportation and environmental protection are under threat of being hijacked, and exploited for dominance and financial gain. The talk will describe some of the methods that could be used to bring critical infrastructure in operable, the potential damages it could cause and options to protect these. It will focus on some of the defence in depth options available to combat these threats.

The talk will address the complete cycle from Governance to Controls and describe the key factors of IT and OT mergers to highlight the criticality of the risks associated with cyber attacks and mitigation strategies.

Several case studies will be show cased to give industry insights.
