This presentation will discuss the RF design challenge (propagation), feasibility of building on remote locations, power autonomy and other anecdotes.
A recent example of this is a microwave network in the Kingdom of Tonga connecting the remote island population. This network includes a single 189 km microwave link and a unique site build on an uninhabited volcanic island, and resulted in a capacity increase from 20 to 200 Mbps and a reduction in latency from 500 to 5 ms.
