Although Surf Life Saving New Zealand is a national association, the four regions (Northern, Eastern, Central and Southern) have governance over their lifesaving operations. As a result each region has, or is in the process of, building operational radio communications networks. Surf Life Saving New Zealand has ensured however that there is national intra-operability and interoperability with key stakeholder agencies, while regions still maintain their manufacturer/vendor of choice.
In this presentation you will hear why Surf Life Saving New Zealand choose DMR as their radio technology and how [planned] intra-operability is achieved at a console and tactical environment. The presentation will also discuss how narrow band data from the radio network is incorporated national IP systems, enabling lifeguards on the beach to utilise radio for mission critical voice and data and smart devices for lifesaving operations and administration.
The session will conclude with a futuristic vision of how surf lifesaving sees the digital future and interaction with key stakeholder partners to ensure safer beach environments in New Zealand.
