The Health & Safety at Work Act: what does it mean for the radio industry?

Thursday 14 April: 2.30pm-3.00pm
Stephen Bray / Health and Safety Inspector, HSNO Enforcement Officer, Operations and Support — Assessments

Tragic events at Pike River Coal Mine led to the creation of an ‘independent regulator’, Work Safe New Zealand, and a highly critical report about the inadequacy of the current legislation. On 4 April 2016, new legislation, the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 comes into force. The new Act focuses on work activities instead of the workplace and places a new emphasis on everyone having a responsibility under the Act (PCBUs, officers, workers, other persons) to ensure everyone goes home healthy and safe.

This presentation will cover:

  • What is a PCBU, officer, worker, other person?
  • What does this mean for you, your industry and the service you provide?
  • Overlapping duties
