Two-way radio customer case study: Dennis Hayes Logging ‘Forest fatalities increase safety demands’

Thursday 14 April: Noon-12.30pm
Simon Coles / Channel Manager NZ, Pacific Islands & PNG, Motorola Solutions

An alarming statistic is that between 2010 and 2015, 27 forestry workers died in New Zealand*. For Dennis Hayes Logging (DH Logging) director, Jeremy Hayes, worker safety is paramount. This case study describes how DH Logging uses its DMR radio system and applications to improve safety so that workers know all activities being undertaken, and where each worker is located. Communication between logging crew members is key. With the risk of 48-tonne machines causing injuries, DH Logging needs constant and clear communications. Lone workers are also protected through radio alerts and man-down functions, to alert dispatchers of any safety incidents.
